How a young woman overcame all obstacles and tragedies in her life and was able to create the most famous monster of all time

A young reporter investigates the rise of dictatorships across the world and reflects on our presidency

JAHEEM SEARCHES FOR TRUTH
Jaheem alternately attempts to confront and mentally escaper from intolerance, prejudice, and racism.
This is an inspirational story of a young woman with no formal education, no support from her parents, and living at a time repressive to women (even Jane Austen did not put her name on Sense and Sensibility or Pride and Prejudice in fear they would not be published). Yet, by age eighteen, Mary Shelley completed a novel featuring what would become the best-known monster of all time.
Katarina has been down on her luck, then in a chance meeting she lands a job as a reporter and is assigned to investigate how tyrants are taking over democracies world-wide. A tough undertaking, especially for her first assignment. And, unbeknownst to her, the Editor-in-Chief has given her this “impossible” assignment to get her to fail and, therefore, quickly resign.
THE MIND TRAVELER deals with Jaheem’s alternate attempts to confront and mentally escape from, intolerance, prejudice, and racism. It is appropriate for MG, YA, and Adult readers (especially educators and clergy), and it handles a tough subject in a way that has not been done in a YA novel before: allowing readers to vicariously experience Jaheem’s struggles with feelings of ethnic inequality and, finally, to experience the surprising and startling moment in his life when he comes to grips with the ultimate source of racism.
